Food For Thought!!!

"DESIRE KILLS JOY
All DESIRES AIM FOR JOY"!!!!
I read Guruji's knowledge sheet wherein he quotes this couplet.I find this so truly awesome and amazing. It is just that I probably never ever paused to give a thought all these years as to what causes the unhappiness or agitation.
Little things can irritate us and cause anger, just someone not agreeing to our view point can create so much of agitation and unhappiness. All because of our desires. All of us usually tend to believe and accept "Either My Way Or No Way".This is the major cause of all disagreements and discomfort that we create for ourselves and for people around us.
All the great ones have said that every human being desires happiness and what ever is done is in search of happiness alone.
We are of the strong opinion and belief that if things happen the way we want then we will be happy. In the process we tend to ignore the others point of view many times. It is probably because every individual can look at issues only from his point of view and to suit himself and his convenience.May be that all the time we focus only on our happiness. That seems selfish for sure ,but I do firmly believe that that is the way it is.As human beings we are made up to think only about our happiness and ourselves.
To give up desires is indeed a very very tough job for ordinary human mortals I am sure and as Guruji has so beautifully said "One who conquers all desires is Mahavira"!!
Isn't that so wonderful!!!
How do we get over our desires and still be happy??
The only route probably would be doing our sadhana, seva and satsangh regularly.I feel it is indeed very important to be in the company of like minded people so there can be progress and positive growth in ourselves.
Needless to mention here that whatever one gets is what one deserves.
Accept what is given in your platter with grace and happiness and be grateful for whatever you have.
Keep working towards becoming a MAHAVIRA,maybe we don't achieve it in this life but sure can be done with our continued efforts and of course the GRACE OF THE LORD &GURU!!!!
Thank God &Guru for each and every beautiful day that has come our way!!!!
Jai Guru Dev!!

Why We Need To Change!!!

It has been really long since I posted something here.I read this lovely forward which I am sure any one who reads will appreciate too.We spend major part of our lives trying to change people.....Read on....
The eagle has the longest life span among birds
It can live upto 70 years
But to reach this age the eagle has to take a hard descision

In its 40's
It's long and flexible talons can no longer grab a prey which serves as food
It's long beak becomes bent
It's wings becomes heavy due to its thick feathers and makes it difficult to fly.
Then the eagle is left with 2 options
1. Die
2. Go through a painful process of change which lasts 150 days

The change process requires that the eagle to fly to a mountain and knock it's beak against the rock until it plucks out

After the beak is plucked it will wait for a new beak. Then it will pluck out its talons. When the new talons grow, the eagle will start plucking its old feathers

Very soon the new feathers also grow. With this change the eagle can stay for more 30 years.

WHY IS CHANGE NEEDED?
Many times in order to survive we have to start a change process.
We sometimes have to get rid of old memories, habits and past traditions
Only when freed from past burdens, can we take advantage of the present.
Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but by how we react to what happens, Not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life.
A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes.
It is a catalyst, a spark that creates extraordinary results.
Let’s change to make a change!!!

When it rains, most birds head for shelter;
the eagle is the only bird that, in order to avoid the rain, starts flying above the cloud. ...

Jai Guru Dev!!!
